Last week, I was in a funk. It started with tweaking my back—nothing major, but enough to keep me from moving the way I like to every day. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that one small shift had a domino effect.
Since I wasn’t moving my body, I didn’t feel great. And when I didn’t feel great, I started making choices that didn’t serve me. Less movement turned into less water, which turned into eating junk instead of real, nourishing food. Then came staying up late and getting crappy sleep. By the end of it, I was dragging myself through the day, wondering why I felt so unmotivated.
Duh, right? It’s not rocket science—when we’re not taking care of our bodies, everything feels harder. But sometimes, it’s tough to see it in the moment. It took me pausing and checking in to realize: the blahs weren’t random. They were the ripple effect of my choices.
The good news? Ripples can flow in the other direction, too.
So what did I do? I went back to the basics. I couldn’t move like I usually do, but I knew heat would help my back. I went to yoga and did what I could. On my way, I picked up two giant bottles of water and stocked up on healthy food for the day. I stayed off my phone that night and got to bed early.
And guess what? The next day, I woke up feeling like me again.
It really is the simple things we know we need to do that make all the difference: move your body, hydrate, eat good food, rest. These basics are what ground us, recharge us, and help us show up as our best selves.
So now, I’m asking you: How are you feeling? Do you need to tweak your routine? Have you fallen off the wagon a little like I did?
If so, no problem. This is your nudge to hop back on. You deserve to feel good, my friend. You really do.
